In a move so typical of this administrations paranoia, a student at the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth received a visit from the FBI after he borrowed a copy of Mao's Little Red Book using the interlibrary loan program

The student was completeing a research paper on Communism for his class on fascism and totalitarianism. The FBI told the student that the book was on a "watchlist". Aside from the fact that the FBI apparently has nothing better to do than monitor books borrowed in Massachusetts, I'm not aware of any terrorist attacks perpetrated by communists on US soil.

So what we have here is EXACTLY what people feared when the "Patriot" Act was passed i.e. the US Government spying on people for doing things that have nothing to do with terrorism.

In addition to being incredibly invasive of personal privacy, the FBI action is unbelieveably hypocritical. Apparently it's ok for the US government to sell our economic security to the present COMMUNIST government in China by allowing them to secure a half trillion dollars in US securities, it's ok that our manufacturing base has been shipped to said country with the help of Republican politicians and Red, White and Blue companies like Wal-Mart, but it's a no-no to READ a book about communism written by a dead guy. I think I'm gonna puke (again).
