When we have children we have given fate a hostage

When we have children we have given fate a hostage (4.00 / 2)

I always forget where I heard this but it's stuck with me since I had my son. He's 3 and the end-all be-all of our lives. When he was about 9 months he had a brief stay in the hospital for croup and the rest of the world just melted away. I cannot imagine trying to cope with the day-to-day mundanities like shopping and cooking when a child is sick, it just seems so trivial in comparison. The absence of that healthy, natural childish energy is suffocating.
