Daily Kos: Is it NOT a payback for the impeachment of Bill Clinton !!! [w/ poll]

this time I must disagree with the master.

No, this wave of indictments is NOT a simple payback for the impeachment of Bill Clinton

First the facts

* 5 different court proceedings, at least, from different courts, with different prosecutors coming from completely different angles
* No bullshit cases All cases producing indictments include crimes against the State - not against a citizen like "Paulagate"
* Only recent cases Not one of those cases involves actions not done in the last 5 years DURING Bush's government
* Everyone DOES NOT do it! . Regular people do not out secret agents, do insider trading, murder, influence peddling, money laundering

Then the Framing
Comparing the current legal problems of top GOP figures with a payback for Clinton is exactly how the GOP wants us to frame the issue. Why ? See below

If the shoe fits... But it doesn't
Note that they try to put their answer exactly as ours at Clinton's "sin" : Everyone does it (adultery) and they are trying to criminalize it as a vendetta for a President they hate. We would be very foolish to wear this verbal "shoe" that they built for us because:

* "It" - criminalizing a "regular people" crime - didn't work with Clinton and it won't work with Bush
* By equating Clinton's pecadillo with the current, much more serious, much more numerous crimes (2 perjuries at least!) they have all to gain and nothing to lose
* Everyone knows Monicagate was a bullshiite motive to pester a standing President
* Hillary was correct when she talked about The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy and every GOP voter knows it

We are told blowback and remorse for the way the media reacted with Clinton was the reason a lot of good reporters tried to stay away from criticizing Bush. By saying Plamegate, Rovegate et all is a payback we are putting ourselves right on the GOP target frame for us

5 different court proceedings, at least
We have at least 5 different investigation topics, each one coming from a different court, with different independent non-coordinated prosecutors, coming from completely different angles, circumstances and investigation lengths.

* Plamegate: A 3 year old investigation of a criminal act - revealing a covert agen't id) and it's cover up, the investigation includes 2 perjuries
* Delay's Texas shenanigans: A 2 year old investigation plus a more recent investigation of criminal acts against the sanctity of Congress
* Abramoff `s corrupt lobbying: A 3 year old case (closed) on and a more recent case, both covering criminal acts of influence peddling, plus a 3 year old murder investigation
* Frist's insider trading: A 3 months old case that covers the same crime the Bush Administration imprisoned cultural icon Martha Stewart for
* Hastert and others: A 1 year old investigation on improper financial dealings with foreign countries

No bullshit cases
All cases producing indictments include crimes against the State - not against a citizen like "Paulagate". The main indictments are not for perjury. Not yet at least, although we have witnessed 2 perjuries in court - Rove and Libby - and one perjury in the press: Bush's promise to fire the leaker. And both Bush, Rove and Libby, Cheney have gone against signed statements of non disclosure, which makes each perjury more serious.

Only recent cases
Not one of those cases involves actions not done in the last 5 years DURING Bush's government. Not a 15 year old alleged sexual harassment done outside of Clinton's presidency. If we were to dig that deep: 10-15 years - to find "dirt" we would probably empty the WH and Congress of GOP!!!

Everyone DOES NOT do it!: Not one of the investigations is for crimes committed often by voters
A lot of Clinton voters and GOP voters commit adultery and lie about it. Not one of those voters has ever outed an undercover agent. Regular people do not do insider trading, murder, influence peddling, money laundering. Those are not simple, civilian crimes. They are much more serious

The payback for Clinton is over
IMHO all the hoopla about Bush's 30 year old "desertion" of the TANG was the payback for Clinton's impeachment. And also IMHO that stupid obsession with an old would be crime, that a lot of "regular people" do - leave the National Guard early - may have cost us the 2004 election. I'll post my musings of this TANG obssession being a large contributor to voters who "held their nose and voted Bush again" in the comments to avoid distracting from the main theme

Poll
Comparing the current legal problems of top GOP figures with a payback for Clinton
a) It's great. Take this and sh*ve it GOPpers!!!
b) It's trivializing 5 serious crimes by comparing it to a "measly" adultery / perjury
c) Is the frame the GOP wants us to take: We too put party above country and only care about those 5 crimes because it was done by GOPpies
d) Both b) and c) are correct
e) Huh ?
