FT.com / International Economy / Oil - Ministers urge unity in face of fuel protests

Europe's finance ministers have warned that the continent must brace itself for a wave of fuel protests as truckers and farmers claim they are being driven out of business by oil prices near $70 a barrel.

Most ministers vowed at the weekend not to bow to demands from truckers to cut fuel prices by reducing excise duty or value added tax, but attempts to present a united front failed.
