Bring us our dead
Among the flood of frantic cries for rescue, and the search for the missing in the past two weeks have been some heartbreaking pleas for the bodies of loved ones. One note, in very humble language, described the death of an oxygen-dependent brother who "passed" while a family huddled in an attic waiting for rescue. Please let us know, the writer pleaded, when we can come take proper care of our brother's body.

Another, from Anthony:

My sister (Gilda Marie Hains) died Sunday evening, 28 Aug 2005, in New Orleans right before Hurricane Katrina. Here body was taken to Tulane Medical Center morgue in New Orleans by ambulance. I understand that the morgue is in the basement which has been flooded by Hurricane Katrina and power lost.
